Swar and Laya are the Main important pillars of Hindustani Classical Music. For laya, Rhythm i.e. Tal has to exit.

The learning student, may be any of either Vocal, instrumental or Classical Dance music,irrespectedly needs to have the basic knowledge of this rhythm, i.e. the science of Tal.
